Lord Shiva is considered as the king among all the physicians. He is the Lord who cures any kind of dangerous diseases.He will erase all the obstacles of his devotees .In favour of Lord this is celebrated as "Mrityunjaya-Sanjeevani MahaVidya" in vedas. Devotees who are desirous of getting cured of diseases are also requested to chant the Vaidyanatha Ashtakam, thrice a day.
Invoke the physician form of Shiva & start reciting the great Ashtakam as follows :
Sree rama soumithri jatayu veda,
Shadanadithya kujarchithya,
Sree neelakandaya daya mayaya,
Sree vaidyanathaya namasivaya.

Ganga pravahendu jada dharaya,
Trilochanaya smara kala hanthre,
Samstha devairapi poojithaya,
Sree vaidyanathata namasivaya.

Bhaktha priyaya, tripuranthakaya,
Pinakine dushta haraya nithyam,
Prathyaksha leelaya manushya loke,
Sree vaidyanathaya namasivaya.

Prabhootha vadadhi samastha roga,
Pranasa karthre muni vandhthithaya,
Prabhakarennd wagni vilochanaya,
Sri vaidyanathaya nama sivaya.

Vakchrothra nethrangiri viheena jantho,
Vakchrothra nethrangiri sukha pradaya,
Kushtadhi sarvonnatha roga hanthre,
Sri Vaidyanathaya nama sivaya.
I bow before my lord shiva,who is the kin among all the physicians,He will bless thse beings who have lost their speech sight,hearing and ability to walk,with all these abilities he provides the cure and give them the life they need.He is the one who destroys the diseases like leprosy.
Vedantha vedhyaya jagan mayaya,
Yogiswara dhyeya Padambujaya,
Trimurthy roopaya sahasra namne,
Sri vaidyanathaya nama sivaya.

Swatheertha mrudbasma brudanga bajam,
Pisacha dukha arthi bhayapahaya,
Athma swaroopaya sareera bajaam,
Sri Vaidyanaathaya namasivaya.
I bow before my Lord shiva,who is the king among all the physicians,who is known for removing of sufferings of his devotees,which are caused by bad spirits,fear and sorrows.When we dip in his holy tank and rub the holy ash in the temple.The Mud which is below the neem tree of the temple and who is the life of all the living beings.
Sree neelakandaya vrushaba dwajaya,
Sarakkanda basmadhya abhi shobithaya,
Suputhradarathi subagyathaya,
Sri vaidyanathaya nama sivaya.
I bow before my Lord shiva,who is the king among all the physicians,who has a blue neck,who has a flag with a bull symbol on it.who will be glimpsing and shining with flowers,sandal and sacred ash,who bless all the good children and good wife.Who blesses a person will all the good luck.
Balambikesa vaidyesa bava roga haredisa,
Japen nama thrayam nithyam maha roga nivaranam.
Those who chant this pray at least thrice a day with devotion and pray to the lord Vaidyanatha,who is with his consort Balambika,He who removes birth and death and will get cured to all the great diseases.Thus ends the great octet which is the greatest and kindest lord among all of the physicians.
